Being overlooked bothers Miller

The Tigers were picked to finish 3rd in the AAC West in the preseason media poll. Phil Steele has them tied for 2nd with Navy, Athlon has them 3rd.
When you read the reviews and see the record predictions, it seems they all have Memphis taking a small step back or discounting the Tigers due to the fact quarterback Paxton Lynch went to the NFL.
Memphis Wide Receiver Anthony Miller feels they are being overlooked.
"I don't like how people are downplaying us just because Paxton left. I believe we're still the same team, same aspirations, and same goals. I believe we're capable of achieving more things this year," Miller said at the AAC Media Day.
Memphis hasn't named a starter yet but Miller said he's confident in both Brady Davis and Riley Ferguson.
He said that the polls are not important but they do put the added motivation to prove people wrong.
Miller said that this new staff has helped the team hone in on the mental aspect of the game and he feels that Memphis will do big things this year.
One reason he's confident that the Tigers are much improved is how well they've prepared in the off-season.
"Me and my teammates have worked hard with Coach Storms, he's our new strength coach. He's very dynamic and we work on every inch of our body."
Miller says he's stronger and faster than last year and he's really tried to improve on his footwork.
The goal is still to go 1-0 each week and he stated he doesn't want to look ahead but at the end of the season he feels the Tigers will be much better than 3rd in the AAC West.
