Even though Memphis and BYU haven't met before there are some similarities there that can make you feel like they'll know each other.

They first thing are that both teams run a 3-4 defense.

Both defenses are stingy on the defensive line and are good at stopping the run. The Cougars only allow 117.5 yards rushing (ranked 14th nationally) and the Tigers allow 125.2 (ranked 24th nationally).

BYU's rushing offense ranks 40th nationally with a 190.5 average. Memphis is 39th in the nation with a 191.8 average.

The Tigers have the advantage in passing defense. BYU's defense allows 266.7 yards passing and Memphis allows 218.

The Cougars have the advantage in passing yards. They average 272 yards passing (32nd nationally) while the Tigers average 230.8 (62nd nationally).

BYU's offense ranks 25th in the nation with a 462.5 yard average. Memphis' defense ranks 22nd in the nation in total defense allowing an average of 343.3 yards per game.

The Tigers offense ranks 50th in the nation averaging 422.7 yards per game. The Cougars defense ranks 55th allowing 384.2 yards per game.

The Cougars and the Tigers match up well against each other.

BYU Freshman All-American Center Tejan Koroma said that the Tigers defensive line isn't as big as other lines they have faced but that the Tigers make up for it with their athleticism.

"It will be a good game. We will have to play our best," Koroma told the Salt Lake Tribune.

A good game it will be.

The Tigers are 15 points away from setting a team record for the most points scored in a season.
