The 2020-2021 Basketball season ended with a NIT Championship for the Memphis Tigers. Now that the season is over and with help of Synergy Sports, let's take a look at the shot chart from the season and compare it from last year.

Around The Rim

The Tigers regressed in around the rim shooting this year. They shot 52.6% which was below the league average of 54.1%. Last year the Tigers shot 55.2% from around the rim. The difference was 53 more shots made last year. Those 106 points could have been useful this year.
Left Baseline

The left baseline is another area where the Tigers regressed from last year. The Tigers shot 13.8% this year. The league average was 35.5%. Memphis shot 25% from here last year.
Right Baseline

The Tigers improved this year from the right baseline. Last year they shot 33.3% but this year they were 37.5%. The league average is 35.6%.
Left Wing

Memphis shot 38.3% from this area. That was better than the league average of 34.7%. It was also better than last year when they shot 37.3%.
Right Wing

The right wing was the Tigers best this year and it was a major improvement from last year. They shot 44.7% from here this year. The league average was 34.8%. Last year they were 23.5% from the right wing. It was their worst area on the floor last year.
Mid Straight

Here's another area where the Tigers improved on from last year. Last year they shot 32% from this area and that improved to 38.7% this year. The league average was 35.2%

There was a slight improvement in this area from last season. They were 33.7% last year and this year they shot 35.4%, which was the league average.
Left Wing 3pt

The Tigers were bad from this area last year and they improved big time from here this year. Last year they only shot 29.7% from here while this year they were 40.3%. This makes up for some of the points lost from missing so much from around the rim. The league average was 33.1%.
Straight 3pt

The Tigers regressed a little here. They went from 32.1% last year to 30.2 this year. The league average was 31.9%
Right Wing 3pt

Memphis improved slightly here. Last year they were 35.7% and this year they were 36.1%. The league average was 33.3%
Right Baseline 3pt

Another slight improvement for Memphis here. They went from 34.5% last year to 35.6% this year. The league average is 34.6%
