The Memphis Tigers picked up commitment lucky #13 earlier today as Arkadelphia (AR) Defensive Tackle Emmanuel Cooper made the verbal commitment.
The 6-foot-1 250 pounder said he was thrilled to be a Tiger.
Why did he choose Memphis?
"I got to visit over the summer and the place was awesome. I've been talking to Coach Shibest and Coach Hunley and I feel that they will help me get to the NFL," Cooper said.
Coach Hunley's experience was a huge factor for Cooper. Hunley was a College All-American, played in the NFL and now coaches in the collegiate ranks.
"Coach Hunley's been there and done that, he knows what it takes."
Cooper also likes how aggressive the Tigers play on defense, "They get after folks. Guys are aggressive to the ball, I love it."
Memphis is continuing to improve their facilities and that's something that impressed Cooper.
So far in his senior season Cooper said he has 25 tackles, 6 tackles for loss and 3 sacks.
Cooper only saw Memphis on TV once so far but couldn't remember which game, "All I can recall is that whooped them bad," said Cooper.
Cooper said he would visit for the USF game on November 22nd. He has the athletic ability to play Tackle, End or Linebacker but will play Tackle at Memphis.
Now that he's committed Cooper said he would not take any more visits or listen to any other schools that may call.
"I'm a man of my word. I told them I'm committed and that's where I'm going to go."
