Memphis Head Coach Justin Fuente just took Memphis from worst to first in just three years. Who though three years ago that Memphis would win a conference title this quick?
Coach Fuente has turned Memphis around and people have noticed.
Could he leave?
It's possible. There have been rumors around Nebraska about Fuente being on the list. I've asked several sources and at this point Coach Fuente is a long shot.
The one to keep an eye on is Kansas. Per source, Coach Fuente would be interested in listening what Kansas had to offer.
Jon Kirby from JayhawkSlant.com reported that Kansas AD Sheahon Zenger is expected to reach out to athletic directors/head coaches in the next 24-48 hours to seek permission to interview them.
It's quite possible that Zenger has already made some calls. Was a call to Memphis one of them?
Coach Fuente met with Memphis AD Tom Bowen today but the details of that meeting are not known.
Coach Fuente was on multiple radio shows today talking about the season and the coaching speculation.
He was consistent in his message; it would take something special for him to leave Memphis.

Memphis Defensive Coordinator Barry Odom is in high demand as well.
Coach Odom took a defense ranked in the 110's to 50 in year 1. 50th to top 15 in year 2 (before the last 2 games). This year they are 30th, a remarkable job.
I spoke to a source that said that Coach Odom is on Auburn's short list.
There are opportunities for both Fuente and Odom. Could Memphis lose both of them?
