Five questions: WKU
Bryan Moss | TigerSportsReport.com
We spoke to Inside Hilltopper Sports publisher Sean Williams and asked him five questions about the game.
1- With Coach Brohm gone, do you see that being a distraction for WKU players during the bowl game?
When Brohm initially left for Purdue, yes. I believe it was an obvious distraction, but fact that rest of the coaching staff is staying intact throughout bowl prep and the game is a good thing for the team in terms of cohesion.
2- What makes WKU's offense so special?
Having a lot of highly-skilled playmakers like running back Anthony Wales, wide receivers Taywan Taylor and Nicholas Norris and an accurate quarterback in Mike White based around an experienced offensive line. There were some struggles early on the season, but the offense has been clicking during their current seven-game winning streak.
3- Who are some guys on the defense that could give Memphis fits?
A couple of guys to keep an eye on along the front seven are defensive tackle Chris Johnson and linebacker Keith Brown, a graduate transfer from Louisville. Johnson has been a backfield disruptor with 11.5 tackles for loss and four sacks so far on the season. Brown is the Hilltoppers' leading tackler with 123 stops, 12.5 tackles for loss, and six sacks.
4- How have WKU fans reacted to playing Memphis?
I think all WKU fans are very excited about the matchup and being able to play a team that has had the success Memphis has had. Most think this will be a really exciting game between two teams that can put points on the board and it also makes for an interesting regional matchup.
5- How do you see this game playing out?
Much like yourself, I think it's going to be a very back-and-forth, entertaining bowl game. A high-scoring game that could come down to the last possession.
