The Memphis Tigers picked up commitment number 12 today.
Itawamba C.C. 2* linebacker Myles Harges made his commitment known. He chose Memphis over MTSU, Southern Miss, Arkansas State and South Alabama.
Harges, 6-foot-2 220 lbs., was high school teammates with current Memphis linebackers Shareef White and Genard Avery at Grenada High in Mississippi.
"Shareef and Genard wanted me to pick Memphis but they understood it was my decision but in the end I wanted to be a
Tiger," Harges said.
Harges credited the coaching staff and the relationship they built as one of the main factors for choosing Memphis.
"Coach Scott is a cool dude and so was Coach Shibest."
MTSU came in a close 2nd but Harges said when he evaluated both schools Memphis was the one that best fit him.
So far on the year Harges said he has 57 tackles, 7 sacks, and 2 forced fumbles.
When asked what type of linebacker Memphis fans are getting he confidently said, "A good one."
He got a chance to see Memphis when Houston came to play. The loss didn't bother him. He was impressed the atmosphere that surrounded the game.
Harges is able to play any linebacker spot for Memphis. That's one of the things the Tigers like about him. Once he gets to Memphis he'll have the opportunity to try them all and see where he fits best.
What are his goals for next year?
"Ball out and get to where we need to be."
His plan is to enroll at Memphis in December.
