The Tigers won the coin toss for the fifth straight game this year.

The game started off slow, both teams traded punts on their first possessions.

Temple was more effective on their 2nd possession but was held to a 31-yard field goal. On the ensuing kick off, Memphis returner Tony Pollard fumbled and Temple recovered.

The Tigers defense held strong and Temple was forced to kick a field goal to take a 6-0 lead.

The Tigers continued to try to install the running game but the 6th ranked Temple rushing defense wasn’t having any of it. Memphis had a total of 14 yards in their first 5 possessions.

That’s when the Tigers Defense stepped up. Cornerback Arthur Maulet forced a fumble and Memphis recovered on the Temple 17.

The Memphis offense couldn’t convert as Jake Elliott missed a 34 yarder.

Temple then chewed up the clock. They had a scoring drive of 12 plays, 80 yards, for 7:23 and took a 13-0 lead.

The Tigers started to drive and got to the Temple 34, and then a false start penalty. They did recover because of Sam Craft. Craft had 3 catches for 37 yards to set up a Jake Elliott field goal.

Memphis goes into the half trailing 13-3.

Interesting Stats-
Total Yds- TEM 190, MEM 111
Time of Poss- TEM 20:15, MEM 09:45

Thoughts-

Tigers HAVE to improve on protecting Riley Ferguson. He’s not getting enough time to do anything.

Need to find a way to sustain drives, the Memphis defense can’t continue to bail out the offense the entire game. They will tire out.
