The 2016 football season is getting closer and for Memphis Senior Kicker Jake Elliott and Senior Defensive Back Chris Morley this will be their last year to don the Tiger uni's. For RS Junior Anthony Miller, this could be his last year if he has a superb year and the NFL comes calling.

During Elliott's Memphis career, what has been his favorite game?

"It's got to be Ole Miss. That or BYU," Elliott said. He admitted it was a tough choice but Ole Miss would be his favorite.

Anthony Miller had an impact year last year (5 receiving TD's and 2 rushing TD's). Did he see himself having that type of year?

He simply said, "Yes, sir."

All 3 have high expectations this year.

"I think we're going to be better than we were last year," Miller said.

Elliott said, "Expectations are higher than they were ever before."

Chris Morley has a lot of confidence and pride. Against Ole Miss he had a career-high seven total tackles, and one TFL, in the upset win over the Rebels.

Memphis Head Coach Mike Norvell was a Wide Receiver in college. Does Morley think he could cover Norvell if he was playing today?

Without hesitation he said, "Definitely!"

While laughing, the picture of Coach Norvell having cornrolls in his college days was brought up. If you haven't seen it, google it.

Often times players and coaches make a deal if they go undefeated. I asked the guys if Memphis goes undefeated would they make Coach Norvell grow the hair out and sport the cornrolls again.

"Haha, that's a good question. We're going to ask him," Miller stated.

Let me apologize to Coach Norvell now for giving them the idea.

The Memphis players love to dance in the locker room so every year I ask which coach is the worst dancer. Every year, Coach Dickey is named.

Since there's a new staff and not enough time to rightly judge the dancing skills of the new staff, I asked if Coach Dickey is still a bad dancer.

"He's improving," Miller said. Morley said he saw Coach Dickey dancing online and agreed he was improving.

After a few wacky questions to loosen them up, I asked Miller who he thought has improved the most on offense from last season.

"I'd have to say Daniel Hurd. He wasn't really incorporated into the offense last season for some reason but this year I expect him to do big things."

I asked Chris Morley who has improved the most on defense from last year. He said it was Arthur Maulet. He mentioned how much Maulet has grown and matured as a player.

What about the new coaching staff, what have they brought to the table?

Elliott said, "I'd say a lot of energy." Morley added to that saying, "We already had the work ethic but they have been really helping with the mental aspect of the game."

They also talked about which stadium, besides the Liberty Bowl, they enjoy playing in the most. That and more will be discussed in the next article.
