One thing is for certain, Memphis will be going bowling but what’s not for certain is which one will they go to?

Yahoo Sports Dr. Saturday projects Memphis to the Birmingham vs. California

ESPN’s Brett McMurphy has the Tigers in the Military Bowl against Boston College.

ESPN’s Mark Schlabach has Memphis in the Birmingham Bowl against Florida.

Phil Steele has Memphis in the Birmingham Bowl against South Carolina.

Fox Sports has Memphis in the Miami Beach Bowl vs. BYU.

College Sports Madness has Memphis in the Armed Forces Bowl against Western Kentucky.

USA Today has Memphis in the Birmingham Bowl against Tennessee.

SBNation has Memphis in the Birmingham Bowl against Arkansas.

The payout for the Military Bowl is $1,000,000. The Birmingham Bowl payout is $900,000. The Armed Forces Bowl payout is $675,000. I haven’t seen any concrete payout for the Miami Beach Bowl but it’s expected to be in the $750K-$1 Million range.

Where do we see Memphis headed?

The Birmingham Bowl makes geographical sense. Short drive from Memphis so the expectation is that more fans will travel. You’d get a great matchup against a SEC team.

Looking at just the payout, you’d like to see Memphis go to the Military Bowl in Annapolis, MD. You still get a good matchup against an ACC opponent.

Most fans I’ve talked to would love nothing more than to go to the Birmingham Bowl if it meant they would play Tennessee.

That’s what we predicted before the season started. We’ll stick to that prediction. We still see Memphis playing Tennessee in the Birmingham Bowl. Memphis fans would certainly turn out in full force for that game.
