It was a great day for Memphis Saturday with ESPN's GameDay in town and with the Tigers hosting SMU in prime time on ABC.
So what did some of the recruits that visited think?
Memphis commit 3* OL Brackston Alford on GameDay- "I think it shows how far this program has come."
Alford on the SMU game- "It was awesome! I’ve went to the Liberty Bowl several times and that is the loudest I have heard. The fans were awesome. The players played great. Another great visit in Memphis and it feels like home already."
Memphis commit 3* WR Marcayll Jones- "Great. The atmosphere was amazing, a sellout crowd, it doesn’t get better than that."
OL Kenyon McCou on GameDay in Memphis- "It was truly amazing..Beale and others really put on for the 901. We put our stamp on College game day"
McCou on the game- "This was my second time seeing a crowd like this of this magnitude..my University of Illinois visit was very similar. But as far as inside and the feel. It felt like a party ready to explode. The intensity was so thick you could cut it with a knife."
2021 K Connor Wood on the game- "The crowd was electric. I’ve been on visits to Memphis before but I’ve never seen the city show up and show out like that. It was something special for sure."
Wood is being recruited by Coach Jones. What are his thoughts on Coach Jones? "Coach Jones is a great guy, we were talking earlier today. He and the rest of the coaching staff always make me feel super welcome when I’m down there."
He doesn't have an offer yet but Memphis is one of his top schools, "Growing up in West TN, Memphis has always been a special place, and they have a great history with specialists. Jake and Stephen in the NFL and Riley and Adam there now are all prime examples. Coach Lembo is one of the best ST coordinators in the nation and I think Coach Norvell has created an amazing program."
2021 ATH Jordan Smith thoughts of his visit to Memphs, "It was awesome. I had an amazing time. A once in a life time experience. I have definitely seen nothing like it. It was crazy. It was great just watching the game i can’t think of what it was like getting to play in that type of atmosphere."
