The University of Memphis football team is in the middle of Fall Camp and things are falling into place.

Quarterback Riley Ferguson is playing extremely well. He's got a great understanding of the offense and as long as he and the others around him stay healthy, look for records to fall.

The backups are not on Ferguson's level. Davis and Moore both have good days and bad. Tigers fans will pray nothing happens to Ferguson this year. They need a healthy Ferguson for the team to fulfill the championship expectations they have.

The running backs are the deepest I have ever seen. Freshman back Tim Taylor showed he can be a every down back for this team. But he has Dorceus, Henderson, and Patrick Taylor Jr. all in front of him. The Tigers could afford to have 2-3 running backs to go down and that wouldn't change the expectations. They are that deep and good at running back.

Sam Craft went down with an ACL injury and is out for the year. While his leadership will be missed, the production of the receivers will still be there. The receiving corps is deep and talented as well. Sr. Roderick Proctor hasn't had the Memphis career he'd imagined when he first arrived in the bluff city but he's shown some skill and ability during the camp. He could replace Sam Craft at the slot but don't be surprised if they move Tony Pollard over. Pop Williams and Damonte Coxie are other options as well. This might be receiver by committee at the slot.

The Offensive Line has looked solid.

The Defense is better than expected. Still might be bumpy at times but they are coming together quicker than we had anticipated.

Notes-

Tigers have added a buy game at Purdue in 2020. They have also inked a home and home with North Texas in 2022 and 2023. That not surprising since UNT AD Wren Baker used to be at Memphis. I'm also hearing the Tigers are still trying to work a home and home with another B10 team but haven't been able to confirm that.

The Tigers have looked so good in fall camp that we might be looking at a 11 win season. I had originally thought it would be 9-10 wins.
