Football Tigers Tonight Podcast

Not sure if we’ll keep that name with John taking a break this year. Sorta feels wrong having it named Tigers Tonight when all 3 of us won’t be on air but whatever the name (TSR Tonight?) Larry and I will be recording Wednesday night.

My question to you all-
We normally use stream yard to do it live and we can see your live comments. Do you like that format or would you guys want to jump in on the action? Whether it is a call in feature or a pop in like zoom feature to ask your question/comment.

Would you guys be interested in participating if we did it on zoom or added you through the streamyard link?

Football Picking Memphis' schedule game by game (Pre-Fall Camp Edition)

Fall Camp starts next week so we thought it would be a good time to quickly look at the Tigers 2023 schedule and make an early prediction. We'll do it again after fall camp once we know the full 2-deep chart.

Give us your picks too.

Sat., Sep 2nd vs Bethune-Cookman (WIN, 1-0)

This really should be a complete blowout. I want to see Seth Henigan on the bench taking the 4th QTR off and give Tevin Carter some playing time. I expect to see about 4-5 running backs get playing time and the Tigers should have at least 2 of them with 100 yards or more.

Sat., Sep 9th @ Arkansas State (WIN, 2-0)

This won't be an easy win but a win nonetheless. Memphis has a 4-game winning streak in this series.

Thur., Sep 14th Navy (Win, 3-0)

Navy is always tough but they are not the Navy we're used to. They haven't been that way for a few years. Memphis is riding a 4-game winning streak in this series and I don't see that changing.

Sat., Sep 23rd @ Mizzou (Loss, 3-1)

This was supposed to be a home game but Mizzou and HC Eli Drinkwitz were not keen on playing in Memphis. I don't blame them. Memphis is hard to beat at home. Memphis will be up for this game and they have the ability to win but I'll give the other Tigers the edge since it'll basically a home game for them.

Sat., Sep 30th vs Boise State (Win, 4-1)

Boise is a good team but they are not the Boise team we remember. Boise has a tough schedule before they get the Memphis game. They open up at Washington, then host UCF and North Dakota, and then travel to San Diego State. I'm banking on that they'll be a bit banged up and deflated because I can easily seeing them going 1-3 in their first 4 games. As of now, I see Memphis winning this game.

BYE WEEK

Fri., Oct 13th vs Tulane (WIN, 5-1)

This won't be an easy game. Tulane is the conference favorites but Memphis plays well at home. For the last 6 meetings, these two teams have been alternating the wins. Tulane won last year so Memphis will win this year. Tulane hasn't beaten the Tigers in Memphis since 1998.

Sat., Oct 21st @ UAB (WIN, 6-1)

The Battle of the Bones is back baby! UAB owns this seier 10-5 but Memphis won the last time these two teams played and Memphis is just the better team. I actually see Memphis winning big here.

Sat., Oct 28th @ North Texas (WIN, 7-1)

The Mean Green will be a tough out being that the game is @ Noerth Texas but Memphis is the better team. Memphis owns this series 17-3.

Sat., Nov 4th vs USF (WIN, 8-1)

Memphis leads this series 7-4. USF head coach Alex Golesh will need a few years before he gets the Bulls back to the mid 2000's Bulls when they were ranked #2 at one point. Memphis wins big here.

Sat., Nov 11th @ Charlotte (WIN, 9-1)

Charlotte is awful. This will be the first meeting between these two schools and I don't feel it'll be close.

Sat., Nov 18th vs SMU (WIN, 10-1)

This isn't a automatic win. I can see this being a back and forth game. If Memphis is 9-1 going into this game then their confidence will be sky high and they'll be ranked. The last 4 games in this series have been won by the home team.

Sat., Nov 25th @ Temple (WIN, 11-1)

Yes, Joey still caught it. This series has been alternating the wins all series long. No team has won 2 in a row. Memphis won the last game and I feel they will break the alternating win curse and be the first team in this series to win 2 in a row.

BONUS-

Memphis plays UTSA in the AAC Championship and WINS!
