Veatch on Mississippi State's Radar

Multiple sources have confirmed that Laird Veatch is a candidate for the vacant Mississippi State Athletic Director's job. John Cohen officially left Mississippi State for Auburn on October 30 in what was the worst kept secret of the year. Mississippi State has been quietly vetting multiple candidates in anticipation of the move for "some time now". According to one source, Veatch would be "high up on the list" for the job. Laird came to the Tigers from Florida, where the served as the assistant athletic director. This tie to the SEC might be attractive to the Bulldogs, as he would be familiar with running an SEC athletic department. Laird was reportedly a candidate for the Missouri athletic director's job last year.

It's expected the search will proceed relatively quickly. Veatch was expected to definitely get an interview. TSR will update as this evolves.

Football Bowl predictions

After week 2-

Memphis vs Va Tech in Fenway.

Memphis vs South Carolina in Gasparilla or Memphis vs Liberty in First Responders.

Football Poaching and NIL

I've heard about the rumors of other schools boosters/bag men approaching Memphis players families with possible NIL deals if they leave Memphis and go to a different school.

1- This is happening.

2- This is the new normal.

I don't like it but welcome to the new world of college football recruiting. I heard that a player went to the staff upset because he doesn't want to leave Memphis BUT due to NIL $$$ from another school was promised to his family he feels he must leave. Is this the reason Marcyll Jones is no longer on the team? I don't know. I do know multiple players/families are being approached.

If you hear anything please reply here if you feel comfortable in doing so or you can send me a private message on here. Click on my name and then start conversation. Or find me on Twitter and send me a DM there. I want to look into which schools are poaching and might be able to do an article on it.
